I am a House, Classic, and Disco DJ who started out in 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri, at age of 19... I was spinning in a small bar where they liked my music so much they got me a city permit to work inside a liquor establishment.. From there, the bar moved to larger spot, the "infamous" St. Louis Zebra Lounge... I played a variety of music in the late 70s and early 80s, Mainstream Disco, Nu-Wave and Funk... I always had the ability to blend different "genre" styles of music successfully, and the crowd embraced the versatility.

From there, I was in all the top dog record pools but none was as coveted as Chicago's Let's Dance Pool... everybody was trying to join in, they had the best promos, tests and imports... then, HOUSE music dropped... at the time, it was so underground that lot of it was only recorded on cassette that was passed around through copy after copy after copy... hence reason why DJs, like myself, learned to use EQ on mixer to get the sound somewhat listeanable loll... those were very challenging and trying times back them... you had all this new and exciting music that much of it wasn't pressed on vinyl... so you had to make it work in your club and to your crowd... after that, House music finally started getting pressed, one of first labels were Traxx Records and DJ International... from there many, many broke out with amazing creative music and I had access to large share of it I played in my spot... Kids took to that music like ducks to water... we had a "Happy Hour" Two For One drinks on Saturday afternoon starting around 5PM... it was so jammed packed the city had never seen anything like it and it was a TRUE sweatbox. box... it was just a haze of sweat, funk, jeri curl juice flung on to walls, mirrors, my records everything... people would literally throw down full drinks on floor when I dropped a track... It was a very powerful and exciting time.

I also was in with all the "other" clubs and played with them as well, club called Faces in East St. Louis that was late night early morning, used to play with a dear friend when I got off from Zebra... it was mainly Hi-NRG, Disco, 80s, but I could always adjust... I played at all the mainstream underground clubs and bars at the time because I could always sense the crowd and what would motivate them... that's the core of what GOOD DJS are supposed to do... create an inviting environment atmosphere that SELLS DRINKS... when people feel secure, like the music, like the mood, be able to meet others, they'll keep coming back time and time again.

I've had EXPLOSIVE LEGENDARY DJ NIGHTS... too many to count actually... when you break a brand new record nobody's ever heard and get them screaming, exciting just off music... that is something unique and powerful... you chose this record out of hundreds and was able to program it where people responded... used to walk in record stores in city and say, this is all ya'll got??... they'd look, who tf are you?... I'm the DJ at the Zebra... OHHHHHH... SO YOU'RE THE ONE... we got people coming into stores DEMANDING records and we have no idea what they're talking about loll... Please send us your tracklists... phhht had to make weekly pool reports anyway so I sent them the lists... but just goes to show... I never put myself above the music, it was always number one, I was simply playing it... but when you have FUN and enjoy what you do... the possibilities really do become endless.
